Let it hit the bottom and then bump it?

What are you fishing for, and what type of jig/scenario are talking about?

If you’re talking bass, the answer is however they want it.

One of the most versatile baits there are when it comes to presentation. Fish will hit it on the fall if you tuck it under cover, if you get it in the right spot leave it there for as long as you can stand it, then pop it once. That can get a reaction strike out of a fish that’s staring at it. Pauses tend to be productive. The skirt flaring mimics a gill plate flaring, which means the prey fish is content and triggers the bass to ambush, but they will sit and stare at it like it’s too good to be true, then they will instinctively strike at the first movement.

Monday morning and i had to read multiple times to understand
Trout like it to slow fall some days and don't care others, 1/16, 1/8 or 1/4 heads in the box. Vary how ya work it until you find the pattern they want, hard bump, short bump, pick it up off bottom.

I keep up to 1/2 oz heads handy but mainly fish 1/8 - 3/8 oz. If it’s got a tail that’s supposed to wiggle the bump off bottom. I generally fish a straight tail off the bottom but doesn’t hurt if you make contact every now and then

Instead of a jig, I like to throw a texas rigged plastic with a punch skirt. Gives the same presentation, but it’s weedless and can be fished through thicker cover. Something like this…
