Keep them separated by a door (either outside or inside) where they can smell each other but not attack each other.

If it’s done through a storm door/screen door where they can see each other, they may hiss and growl but try not to interfere while they size each other up.

Give them treats and/or food at the door where they can still smell and/or see the other cat.

Makes them associate the other cat with food and positive reinforcement.

Cats are so weird and territorial. My 7 year old cat has finally accepted my girlfriend after about 4 month. At first he was curious about her, then decided he didn’t like her, and now has reached the acceptance stage. He lets her pet him and occasionally shows his belly for scratches. He never runs away from her anymore.

I think the coolest think about my cat is his ability to tell accurate time. I work from home and get off around 6. This dude comes meowing in my office at 5:55 (give or take 3 minutes) damn near every day.

He gets fed as soon as I get off so he’s just as eager as I am for 6:00. Crazy accuracy.
