Indiana and the area outside of Chicago in Illinois is highly forgettable, just pure nothing.

It would really depend on where you currently live in the country since each region would have their top choice for "forgettable state." People saying North and South Dakota most likely have never been there and don't know about the hunting and fishing opportunities in those states.

Flat as a table, corn from one horizon to the other with hundreds of giant windmills sprinkled in. Every so often there will be a little town here and there.

It's probably Indiana for me

Even when I ask myself what states are forgettable, I think Missouri, Iowa, etc. and I forget about Indiana

If there is a state you forget about when thinking about forgettable states - that's the most forgettable state.
