We get quicker and more reliable information about more storms across a wider area with the chasing community as it is now.

To the point of reaching a larger market: I don't even know how much longer that will be true.

Agree, anyone taking some time can find better info. But the masses use TV so thats only reason I say they need some leeway in chasing. They have helicopters and many chaser teams who are weathermen mostly. Their infrastructure is bigger.

In time that will change but until others get choppers it will be tough to overcome.

There's a solution to the chaser issue as it pertains to media coverage, and it isn't specific to the OKC metro area. Put the best chasers on the payroll and don't hamstring them with safety clauses. TV channels across the country (and their parent companies) want to have their cake and eat it too whilst relieving themselves of any liability. They believe they are entitled to footage and content and that they should pay nothing. They're multi-billion dollar corporations, yet they offer credit and a heavily-slanted contract that includes a perpetuity clause and gives them the right to profit off of the content......FOR NOTHING.

I'll never side with a TV channel on this issue. They're cheap, disrespectful, and their collective guilt trip on days like today is tired and worn out.
