I strongly disagree with this. Sure there are some jokes where it may definitely HELP to know the origin on what it's parodying, but even not knowing that it doesn't negate the funniness. Take the contest for example. It's not a prerequisite to have seen She's All That to find that entire "I'm talkin about a reeeeeeal shite bomb" "she's got a ponytail....and glasses!" sequnce funny. You don't have to have seen Sixteen Candles to find Jake Wyler funny. You don't have to have seen Bring it On to find teh cheerleader dance routine ripoff of east compton cloveers funny. And we coudl go on and on.

I think abut the only gag that kinda DOES need to have some prior knowledge would be the molly ringwold cameo at the end, because if you had zero knowledge of the references ahead of time you'd just be like "who is that lady". But many of the hundreds of gags in movie are funny as hell enough in their own right.
