Could they, though?
Cain became the recruiting coordinator after the 2016 season so let's look at 2017 and beyond. Their best hitting was the first year under Cain, which should be the least impactful. It is also the only season the team batting average was better than this season's though the OBP, RPG, and RBI/Game were still significantly worse than this season. Typical nonsense tRant take
- 0.289 BA, 0.384 OBP, 6.69 runs/game, 6.22 RBI/game
- 0.283 BA, 0.366 OBP, 5.88 runs/game, 5.48 RBI/game
- 0.273 BA, 0.358 OBP, 6.62 runs/game, 6.03 RBI/game
- 0.253 BA, 0.358 OBP, 5.71 runs/game, 5.24 RBI/game
- 0.273 BA, 0.361 OBP, 6.57 runs/game, 6.1 RBI/game
- 0.289 BA, 0.404 OBP, 8.11 runs/game, 7.69 RBI/game
- 0.308 BA, 0.432 OBP, 8.93 runs/game, 8.2 RBI/game
- 0.288 BA, 0.405 OBP, 7.3 runs/game, 6.72 RBI/game
