I was there for 6 months. Lima is ok but the slums are unimaginably bad. Best ceviche you’ll ever have even though I wouldn’t say Peruvian food is particularly good. I’ve had enough Yuca for multiple lifetimes.

Cusco is awesome but it’s in the mountains. I almost went to the hospital thinking I was very sick and ultimately realized that I was just badly dehydrated and was struggling with the extreme altitude sickness.

Many of the locals in that region actually speak Spanish as a second language. The native language is predominantly Quechuan. You’ll see crazy shite like people bathing on the side of dirt roads etc.
