I think the CB spot will be better. I also think the LB spot will be better because Weeks will likely start. Finally, I think Baker will do a better job of getting Perkins in spots to make plays.
LSU didn't have great talent. Particularly in the secondary. House made things worse by trying to play essentially a "bend but don't break defense". The problem was everyone was still confused and teams were able to easily hit big plays despite LSU trying to do everything they could to limit them.
LSU probably would have been better off trying to be overly aggressive. Sure opponents would have still hit some huge plays. But that approach may have also created just enough big plays defensively to allow the offense to overcome them.
I think Baker is going to be more aggressive. That doesn't mean the defense will be dominant (there are still talent deficiencies). Opponents will still hit their fair share of big plays. But I think that style is at least going to give LSU a fighting chance vs. just helplessly allowing opponents to march downfield at will.
