It's particularly bad when you consider that Gaffney is in the Upstate, and by definition is more Appalachian. Whatever Spacey is trying to do is more akin to the Lowcountry.

NOLA accents are closer to NYC/NJ accents...
...yet Hollywood has mysteriously always given NOLA characters "Suthun" accents like they were from a plantation in "Rowl-lee, Nawth Care-oh-line-ahh" but yet will still give those same characters cajun add-on dialogue, like "Fais do-do" or "Mon, Cher". It's laughable.
