Winning teams are built through the draft, not FA. FA is how you get into cap trouble. Teams that succeed have a solid base, but fill around them with younger players who are on their cheap rookie deals.

I think that is what we are doing now. We didn't sign any expensive FA this year, didn't even make significant new commitments to our aging vets. Outside of Carr, we've been unusually conservative in the FA market over the last few years. I see faint signs of common sense from the Saints FO.
