Do some digging on the levelized $/MWh for each type of generation and even the capex $/MWp.

Coal has been losing this battle for along time. You identified one big issue with transportation but you also have high o&m and there obviously the cost of coal itself.

Yeah, for part time ......but let's not factor in the government hand outs to make it feasible.

Former CEO for Mitsubishi heavy Industries put it best .....

About 4 hours for solar and about 5-6 hours for wind .......

Some folks have never been to either ......
