I was ok with the franchise taking data this season on the current roster as injuries had prevented our top players from logging many minutes together. You could postulate and pontificate that it wouldn't work (congratulations) but IRL you can't just get frustrated and break things without giving them a chance.
Ok, now you have a good sample size. And five seasons overall with Zion and Brandon. That's enough to make a decision. If that decision is to sign Brandon to a max contract and make his pairing with Zion the basis of the roster going forward, you've totally lost me.
Pels have allowed and perhaps encouraged Brandon to be the center of this roster. But on the court, his game does not fit the modern NBA or complement Zion. Now it seems they may want to hold on to him for culture reasons, or they're afraid they would lose the team if they traded him. However, this same guy is the one who--unlike CJ--won't change his game, who from several reports, wouldn't accept the offense they tried to bring in this year.
It seems with Brandon the tail wants to wag the dog and the Pels have let him think he can get away with it. But he's not that good, not that efficient and doesn't fit with your true star.
For all those reasons, he needs to go. You're not going to be able to take a a true step forward to building a contender around Zion so long as he is here.
