This is the answer I'd go with. I can remember when they first hit the airwaves on radio, TV, movies and their LP's. They epitomized the stoner 60's hippy types loaded on weed and magic mushrooms.
Sean Penn as Spicoli brought it to the screen 3 years after Cheech and Chong were in "Up In Smoke" in 79.
