Atlanta’s Dead Cap hit for Cousins:
2025: $65,000,000
2026: $25,000,000
2027: $12,500,000

They are stuck with Cousins for longer than 1-2 years, even if he’s sitting on the bench or his couch.

2028: Penix will either be making big money because he’s successful, or Atlanta will be looking for another QB

Also limits how much you can restructure his contract to open up cap space over that time span as well, because you won’t want to kick that can further into Pennix’s window

Not to mention in 2028 Penix will be 28 fricking years old. Guy would be the projected first year starting with maybe 4-5 years on average left in the tank.
