If they think he’s going to be a franchise QB, then it’s the right move. It doesn’t matter when they picked him. Drew Brees was a 2nd round pick and became a great one eventually.

Drew Brees was the 32nd overall pick in the 2001 draft. He went first in the second round.
Being 32nd was like last in the first round. Food for thought.
