Not so much. Housing costs are sky high. My son lives there. He can't afford to move with his growing family. There are homeless people and hippies galore. Austin has an amount of cool that BR might not. And the outdoors is likely better in Austin. They just aren't comparable as cities unless you think seat of state government and flagship university.
