Slackers was about that age group. not the original Austin art/music/hipster scene at large

Willie and the Armadillo World headquarters was a much bigger driver and influence on what Austin became/is than the 80's poser /try-hards

that was real those traditions are still the Austin "the Slackers" tried to be
