From what I’ve heard is that most people want more background on why Texas and Cali teamed up. Not enough backstory.

Yeah, that goes WAY beyond suspension of disbelief and the reason I doubt I'll ever watch this one. Just a horrible premise to start with.

T be simple answer that will disappoint people is so that neither the red states or blue states could say there’s a bias. The artistic answer is probably along the lines of both groups think our country is in the shitter, so they put the two stereotypically polar opposite states together.
