My public elementary school, run by a bunch of conservative Protestant teachers, often told us how the Russians brainwashed their children. Then, with no thought of the irony, they had us say the pledge of allegiance and sing patriotic songs each morning, then pray before lunch. Gideons passed out New Testaments in class a time or two as well. They pretty much ignored all the Supreme Court decisions on religion in public schools.
Their brainwashing tactics didn’t work on me. If anything, they had the opposite of the intended effect.
So if you want to snatch kids up and make them say a pledge to a flag, don’t be surprised if it doesn’t work out like you hoped.
