My brother had petit mal epilepsy from age 5-12. I remember my mom driving him to Dallas multiple weekends. He would have to stay up for 24+ hours for EEGs and Brain monitoring/testing while he would sleep in the hospital. This was a tough 7 years for our family - we kept being told there was nothing they could do and no "cure".
After 7 years of TONS of hospital trips, sleepless nights, etc. our family ended up going to church one Sunday, on a day where they were blessing the special needs with holy water and prayer. My dad brought my brother up there to get blessed by the Priest. 7 days later, his epilepsy was totally gone, and he has never had an epileptic episode since. He's 24 now
