I have noticed others saying the same, but the lines out the doors at restaurants at levels I didn't use to see says otherwise.

We do not eat out as much, and we generally do take-out now. The prices are a factor, but I think the main factor is that I enjoy what I prepare or what my wife prepares more than what most of the restaurants prepare. We will go try a new place now and then just to get out of the house, but not as often as we used to.
As for Mexican places, I can remember when Atlanta basically had one -- Pepe's on Ponce. Now there is one on every corner. Some are more upscale than others. That used to be a cuisine we didn't normally make, but I've been learning Mexican cooking for a couple of years now.
Besides, restaurants have always been known as great places to launder money.
