Did you not ask what "use it regularly" meant?

It's as simple as finding a dirt or gravel road or parking lot, putting it in 4 high, and driving around for a couple of minutes. You're just getting the front diff to engage and coat the gears in oil. That's it.

And shorter life? I just traded in a 2012 Tacoma 4x4 with 237K miles on it and NEVER had a problem with the drive train.
