The city part idk but this is universal.
Approach every person knowing you have no idea what they’re going through
When someone does something for you, you thank them.
Don’t be needy, be independent.

This is pretty solid. I’d also add treat every person with respect, no matter who it is, janitor, cleaner, school principal, your boss, the CEO, etc.
