Lessons can be expensive, but if you actually do the work outside of the lessons, you can get by with having a lesson every two or three weeks rather than every week. Spend those weeks really working on what you learned on your last lesson.

You will find varying opinions here. I bet there are a considerable number that think $1200 is a very reasonable price for a beginner to spend on clubs and to each their own.
