should we try to make the playoffs any year that we aren't truly contending?

we absolutely should have pressed on full steam ahead... however, the injury to Zion changes that drastically.... let's be realistic.... this situation is just like we seem to have with the Saints damn near every year.... is it beneficial to win the battle knowing you stand no chance in the war, and sabotaging potential future ramifications in the process.... we can probably beat the Kings without Zion... we already have... but we absolutely CANNOT beat OKC without him, so to me, and to many other people, the future possible higher draft capital outweighs a win vs. the Kings... at the end of the day, the result will be the same whether Friday night this week, or a week or so from now at the hands of OKC... the only thing different, realistically, is the FACT that our draft position will be lower... but at the end of the day, we still fall way short of what we all thought this season could possibly shape up to be, so the value of a better possible future outweighs what I see as a meaningless win Friday night... a lot like masturbation, sure it'll feel good, but at the end of the day, we are only going to be fricking ourselves...

Oh wait his playoff rep minutes would've done wonders for his growth? But not guys like Trey Murphy?

there's no guarantee that those miinutes do anything for any of those guys... to think that b/c a player gets playoff experience, all of a sudden that makes them a sure fire thing next time around in the playoffs... you and I know there's no guarantee there... but what IS guaranteed is we win Friday, and lose out to OKC, we slip further in the draft, which decreases the capital that we could have to make our roster better, whether via draft or trade or both

I completely agree with you.

But it’s useless to argue this point right now. We live an immediate gratification generation and society- so people just want playoffs. They want to get excited for something. The reasoning is we need to get young guy playoff minutes because even though our star is hurt the role guys can get better in the playoffs. Which Im not saying wont help- but higher draft pick and pressure to make changes in the organization are frankly more important long term.

I've already linked math showing the pick hit rate between 14 and 21 is almost the same. There's no point arguing this anymore if people are just going to ignore math.
