At this time, Western officials universally referred to their Syrian proxies as “moderate rebels”. Yet, Washington was well-aware its surrogates were dangerous extremists, seeking to carve a fundamentalist caliphate out of the territory they occupied.

This has been long known. That was the American state-run media narrative c. 2014.

When our involvement in the Syrian Civil War heated up it was Glenn Beck of all people who outed how the "moderate rebels" we were funding and arming were actually violent extremists.

This is the title of an article from January 2015. It was a "conspiracy" that something like ISIS could exist.

This Glenn Beck conspiracy theory could shut down the D.C. Beltway

"I personally am calling to impeach the president of the United States," an emphatic Glenn Beck said three weeks ago on his radio show. Beck's charge against Obama? The purported arming of al Qaeda–linked terrorists in Syria.

Yeah, a lot of this has been known or theorized about for many years. None of it is surprising, but this article has apparently picked up steam on FB recently and the posting of it was subsequently banned.

I think it's important that people understand the absolute mess that we've created in the ME when considering our further involvement in the conflict between Israel and Iran.

Yeah, this was nothing new. I think there was a general who had said that we created ISIS.

This is an old British SOP. They did it in Palestine before WWII with the Palestinians....attempted it even with the Zionists at the time. Create or support a wedge group to keep the locals more interested in fighting each other as to spend less time focusing on British stuff. Worked great as well for the British Raj in India
