Agreed. I think it would be unthinkable for many parents today to have your 10-11 year old gone all day on a bike and you didn't know where he was or have any way to get in touch with him. That was my childhood.

Exactly. But there were levels of trust and self-management I am not sure kids could pull off today.

Plus, neighborhoods had stability, not a lot of transitional people. Everyone watched out for the kids.

They sure knew how to call my mom when I wasnt acting right.
