I’m fixing a GE dishwasher tonight. Found out the heating element went out and got a new one on Amazon for $35. Will probably take me an hour to install the new one (you have to unhook everything and pull the dishwasher out). Much better than spending $500+ on a new piece of shite with too many features.
$50 and a YouTube video and you can fix most of these shitty appliances. At least that’s what I’ve observed my wife doing.

My aunt replaced a 27 year old window unit air conditioner with a new GE window unit with all digital controls. It crapped out in less than two years. I really didn't want to pull it out and replace it again, so I traced the issue down to the control panel. GE wanted $270 some odd dollars for it. I found it from a supply house for $78 plus shipping. It looked exactly the same. I replaced it by myself without having to pull the unit all the way out.
We will see how long it lasts.
