Let’s think this through, by your logic you would be fine if it was your 17 year daughter and her 45 year old male teacher
That would only necessarily follow if my logic also assumed that males and females were exactly the same with respect to sexual relationships. I don't assume that. For one major thing, the 17 year old female can get pregnant. The 17 year old male can't. The 45 year old female can get pregnant, but that wouldn't derail her life to any degree that would look anything like the 17 year old female getting pregnant.
Also, paste where I said it was "fine." I also never said that. I said the opposite, in fact.
All I'm asking is whether that situation (not some other situation that you think is analogous) rises to the level of imprisonment.
EDIT: Let me give you a hint. Embedded in my logic is the assumption that 17 year old males and females need to be regarded differently with respect to this scenario.
I understand that that isn't feasible legally. I understand what the law says. All I'm pondering is whether it really morally makes sense to put this woman in prison for doing something that almost certainly made that kid's year rather than hurt him in some way.

It's the law so no need to question the "morality" of it. Especially when this woman has no morals by commiting adultary, no matter the age.
Every male and female teacher, yes even substitutes, know this rule/law. She did the deed, got caught, and she needs to go thru the legal process, with no concern for her being a her.
