One of the all time great debates concerning "classic" Hollywood:

Maureen O'Hara and John Wayne- did they or didn't they?

JW's own son (Patrick) once said his father genuinely loved that woman. She was one of the very few he'd listen to.

Then there was the famous ending to "The Quiet Man" where John Ford told her to whisper JW something to elicit a genuine reaction. Whatever she came up with apparently worked.
