Seems like for as good as Herring has been, he has not been able to strand the runners he inherits. Might be better to have him come in to start clean innings in the future

Now, I don't have the numbers in front of me, but it does seem that way to me too. If the numbers prove that Herring gives up a good bit of inherited runners, then yeah, that's a very fair criticism of Jay. Let Ack or Guidry come get the final out, then let Herring come in to a clean inning. I know you don't want to burn either one of those guys in a close game that could go extra innings, but they'd be fine to go again tomorrow.
It may have been a gamble, but we are at a point, where we HAVE to gamble. Have to be willing to lose big to give yourself the best chance to win. Losing close counts just the same as losing big. If we lose 2-1 or 12-1, our conference record is 3-11 either way.
