Allow me to discuss a house my wife fell in love with that hugely fortunately it was sold before we bought it.
Absolutely a disaster of a house.
The house had a half basement, half crawl space.
But, the house may cave in someday because of the horrendous foundation.
The front yard sloped down to the house, (about 5 foot drop over 50 feet or so)
No French drains.
The front porch pillars were caving in, water seeped into the basement to one of two sump pumps.
Water flowed into the crawl space. The cinderblock wall fronting the basement was cracking and being supported by these added steel framing pieces.
The back corner of the house was cracking and needed helical piers to raise.
Just awful.

Yeah. It’s a new experience for me. We close May 3 on a house that has a crawlspace. Trying to learn as much as possible.
