Watched Dune 1&2, the '84 version, and am pretty sure I watched the SyFy version too, but all I remember was that it was decent?

Never read the books. Feel there's lots of material that's still not been well adapted to screen.

I don't feel as much 'lost' as just resigned to accepting things are that way because the author wanted them to be and it works for the story. Some things just never click with me, as to why the Emperor was motivated to fricking with House Atreides, or what's the real story with the Bene Gesserit order.

And with most sci-fi movies on alien planets, where does all the oxygen come from if the whole surface is desert?
