At&t fiber is nothing special but it is very reliable. $55/mo is usually the cheapest at&t will go and that is 300/300Mbps.
If cable is good in your area, no reason to avoid it if it meets your needs.
I'm always switching between Xfinity, At&t fiber and Google Fiber and I haven't found one to be significantly better than the others. The only differentiator I have found at my location is the fiber services get better pings to Texas (i'm in Kansas City) than Xfinity cable. But to everywhere else like east coast and west coast, all services have almost exactly the same pings.
