I think he did have to piece some things together from people he talked to.
But he’s not from earth so he doesn’t really know how to be a real detective besides what he’s seen in the movies.

Just finished this, and I actually really enjoyed it.
I feel like the twist shouldn’t have worked for me, but it did, and ultimately felt like it enhanced the overall story. It took it from a good noir type show, and transformed it into something more. However, I certainly can’t fault others that are pissed off bu the twist. I get it.
I really enjoyed Collin Farrell in this role. I also don’t necessarily feel like a second season is needed, but I’d definitely watch it.
