I'm sure your boss got rid of a productive model employee because they arbitrarily just didn't like you.

I've had one of these, and I've never even sniffed at being fired. In a nutshell...I answered directly to this lady, but her boss hired me. Her boss LOVED me. I mean teacher's pet kind of loved me. Turned out this lady was mad I was hired over her friend, and she legit had it out for me.

Made herself look like a complete fool with the ways she tried to "catch" me doing things wrong. Thankfully I bolted after a year, as she was miserable to be around. Her boss gave me a glowing recommendation.

I had one like this also. I started in maintenance and drifted over to production. My “boss” acting as an interim plant manager started in production, same role as me, and had got this online engineer degree. He managed to talk his way all the way up to VP of engineering for the entire company. His first major assignment, he built an entire plant that never had the first customer. After 6 months, they fired everyone, somehow he didn’t. Fast forward a few years. They were millions over budget on a new project at our location. I was still just in production and they made a couple of us sit in a big corporate meeting. He lied and lied about stuff, saying things like “when I was in production, I did this and I did that”, throwing everyone he could under the bus. After the meeting, I asked him about it, and he lit into me, saying that day he’d find a way to get rid of me. Gotta remember, I worked with this guy and knew how he was. After about a year, he finally found a way to run me out. I resigned knowing it would come. In 7 years, they called several times about coming back, and I would tell them to talk to your boy. He would always block me. Then the day came the phone call came where they finally fired the dude. I learned he’d been demoted several times and at the end was just a salemans. From VP of engineering for the entire company to sales for our local plant. No one was sad to see him go.
