I am not saying this will magically fix all the problems, but I think this would make things better.
- Give each parish a mark of the amount of funding needed to run its school system. The poorer parishes that don't have the tax base other parishes have the state can supplement what it needs.
- Do away with school boards as they are. Like texas school districts, do not pay school board members. This would hopefully get more people concerned about the quality of education involved and not people who wants the insurance school board members get.
*Maybe consider each HS and and the schools that feed to each HS have its own board. Its a cluster frick when you have all of these districts and each member only cares about theirs which causes them to not be able to do shite as a whole. Its about "whats best for my district so that these people will continue to vote for me" and not "how can we make the school system better as a whole".
These simple moves would be a good move forward.. Then build from there.
