they shouldnt be using -10 at 12u. good way to ensure you break the bat and then thats a huge jump from drop 8 at 12 to bbcor drop3 at 14.
that kind of thinking is why so many kids leave the game at that age and cant make the HS team....totally unprepared for the big field and bbcor bats.
normal size kids should be
8-10 should use drop 10
11 and some of 12- drop 8
12-13 drop 5
14-college- bbcor drop 3

most of the major level kids swing drop 5 at 12. everyone at that level atleast swings drop 8 at 12 and at 13 100% of them swing drop 5.
its too big a jump to go drop 8 to drop 3
