he may very well can. but depending upon competition ya'll are playing, the pitching is the x factor of facing a kid who is now throwing 63-67 mph vs kids throwing 52 mph meatballs. But wanting a bat for the future to use for a while, 31"-5 is probably a good bet for you sounds like. My kid always has 3-5 bats in his arsenal of cage bats/ a wood bat etc. various weight drops etc.
