I was in the same boat. Never really gave PXG much thought until I saw a print add with a full bag special. Went for a fitting and was blown away at how great they felt. The driver and three wood were not that good and I sold them after one round. I've had my irons for two years now and love them. I do occasionally get a shot maybe once every two rounds where the ball just mysteriously goes twenty yards further than it should. I'm a 3 handicap and when my normal nine iron that should go about 155-160 yards goes 185-190, it freaks me out a little. And that's not a flyer lie out of the rough, that's off a tight fairway.

Personally, I love my pxgs but I am a feel player and no iron feels as good as them even on mishits.
But I do believe pros may have an issue w them regarding distance control.
I also have the out of the blue blasted shot that goes 15-20 yds further than it should. Those shots are always with solid contact, but I hit other shots solid and they don’t fly like that.
It always seems to be on an approach shot too and it can be fairly costly. I could imagine a tour player not being able to have confidence in precise distances.
