Same boat with kidney health as you, same age. I've lived with one for about 25 years and didn't realize back then the clock was kind of already ticking. Starting to ask questions I didn't know I would need to ask for a while down the road.
My doctor primarily works out of a dialysis center which is fricking depressing but it's the closer option of his two offices. I guess getting a glimpse of what could be my future was a place to start. The one comforting thing in my preparation is knowing this wasn't self inflicted but just an unfortunate situation of living off the one kidney for over half my life.
I'd be curious of others going through this here to have an idea what the process is like. Wishing you the best in your battle and to rebound, survive and be as healthy and well as possible going forward.
Unaware of the process of dialysis-donor-etc I'm already feeling guilt having two people offering being a donor which may some day land them in the same situation as I am.
