Caitlin Clark has made women's basketball relevant
Apollo Creed had some insightful words about sporting event promotion in the original Rocky. He said, “Without a ranked contender, what this fight needs is a novelty.” So he picked a local club fighter of Italian heritage with a catchy nickname in an attempt to arouse interest.
Clark and Reece have given women’s basketball (which no one generally gives a frick about) a little bit of novelty due to their conflicts, personalities, appearances. And let’s be real, while Clark isn’t a supermodel, she is a cute girl-next-door type and not really who you would expect to be breaking scoring records.
But once they move on and it’s back to ten anonymous college girls out there playing below the rim, no one is going to care anymore unless one of them is a hot TikTok star.

Ehhh, nobody gives a shite about wnba, that's for sure.
But, women's NCAA basketball has been relatively popular dating back to the mid 90s when Geno and Pat summitt began their rivalry.
