I think it will under perform the Jedi Fallen games for sure.

Before Bonkers goes white knighting bonkers again, here is why.

There are certain things you need (not all, but some) to have in a Star Wars game, and the trailer does not show them.

1. The Force - that is the foundation of what we know Star Wars to be.

2. Jedi/Sith - Users of the Force

3. Characters we know - You have to be able to relate to something. This is why Jedi Fallen did well. The Jedi brought us in, and then they hit us with characters we knew. Even if just a sprinkling. This is also why The Mandolorian worked, they were know from animation and movies. The trailer did toss out some familiar bad guys, and a frozen Han Solo.

4. Locations we know - New planets are great, and it does look like from the trailer we are getting some. Tatooine and Corvus look to be in it though, so players will get grounded with stuff they know.

5. They also look to have the Empire, but the Rebellion is missing from the trailer. Mentioned, but not seen.

Some of those above reasons is why one of the best Star Wars shows put out struggled - Andor. Really great series, if you have not watched it.

If Rockstar made this, it would be a slamdunk . With Ubisoft, my faith is squashed some.

I would agree with a slight modification: you either need the top basket or the bottom basket; you don't necessarily need both.

Put another way, if you have all of the space magic, players will likely be ok with new characters and settings.

If you have all of the nostalgia bait in the setting, players will likely be ok playing a Firefly-esque rogue in that setting.

Have both baskets? You'll likely sell like crazy no matter what. Have one basket but not the other? Make a solid game and you'll be fine. No force and no nostalgia? Now you've got problems.
