Propane heaters work well. I think the heat just dissipates.
If you are talking about camping inside of state and national parks with staff, I’d be leery about a propane heater. They generally don’t like to be flexible and nice in my experience. It’s hard to hide a fire I mean, it’s likely going to call attention to you. I’d make sure to ask ahead of time unless you don’t mind the attention.
