Apparently his prime was in the 80s when he was still behind the Iron Curtain. Hubie Brown and the old heads talk about him as if he were Keyser Soze back then.

The NBA got him as an old man. Apparently he was Shaq and Bill Walton when he was playing for the Soviets.

He is one of the reasons we ended up sending pros in the Olympics. Sabonis dominated David Robinson in 88 and we didn't win the gold.
