Median house price in Dallas: 400k
You also need to consider that "median" homes in metro areas are usually really small or in shite hole areas.
A quick Zillow search shows that homes for sale in Dallas, TX for $400k-$450k are around 1500-1800 square feet. I don't know the area that well to know what's good or not.
For many who want a "middle class" life, they're looking for a nice, sizable house in a good school system with safe places for their kids to grow up. Does the median get you that? How much would someone need to make in Dallas to achieve that lifestyle?
I'm thinking at least $200k household.
