The Hunts & the Chiefs wanted the entirety of the Truman Sports Complex to themselves. They had grand ideas for a destination within a destination for Arrowhead. Upscale shopping and dining paired with multiple hotels and entertainment venues.
It was dirty pool from the get go. If you’re from the KC area or have ties, the Royals ownership and minority ownership had deep ties to all that property East of the Downtown Crossroads district and had already had a massive tax abatement come and go with all that property essentially being dormant for the last decade.
A glaring red flag was the Chiefs and the Royals and their inner circle spent 20x’s the amount on their propaganda campaign of “vote yes” than the “vote No” proponents.

Chiefs will cut the Royals loose. Someone in both camps wasn’t thinking. First of all, the Chiefs tying themselves down with the Royals plans for Crossroads. Second, the Royals think they’d capitalize on the Crossroads “aura “, but they would just kill it. I know at least a couple dozen people who love First Friday and frequent the area on other days, and they don’t give a single frick about the Royals. Never have, never will. Crossroads is fine as it is.

Royals think they’ll replay the P&L but they won’t. Let Johnson or Wyandotte country take them. Keep the Chiefs.
