Because some idiot kid will look at the eclipse without glasses and damage his eyes. Then the parents will sue the school and the district for not “doing enough” to protect the kid.

We literally had to have parents sign waivers in 2017 that wouldn’t hold the school or district responsible if the kid didn’t follow directions.

You can look at the eclipse without glasses during totality when the moon completely blocks the sunlight.

If you look at a partial eclipse when you're not in a total eclipse then you're basically staring at the sun on a normal day like a window licker and probably deserve to go blind. Staring at the sun really hurts. If you do it long enough to go blind you weren't going to amount to much anyways.
