Here’s the background on City Park as I’ve volunteered there and have played it regularly since the early 80s when it truly was an unplayable course that charged about $3 a round.
There was a major renovation in 2007 in which the fairways and greens were immensely improved. Several of the holes were also changed. Before then the green fee was about $6. It has steadily increased to it’s current rate. The seventh green has always had issues possibly due to the proximity to the cypress stumps This hole was totally renovated about a year ago but obviously still is a challenge to maintain.
I believe the course is positioned by BREC to be basically what it is. A fun little nine hole starter course for youngsters and college kids as well a place where seniors can play. I think it will likely always be “affordable“ to the non-serious golfer
Perhaps over time this will change but In my lifetime I would not expect a drastic revamping of the course some of you envision as I don’t think this is the vision BREC has for this course.

Despite the derailment, thank you, that is actually an informative post. To be fair, $6 in 2007 with inflation is about what they're charging now.
IMO, green fees under $40 fall under this category. Just about any other activity that lasts multiple hours outside of a walk around the LSU lakes costs this much. Junior rates could be half price.
Judging by their current decisions, I don't think so either, which is my whole point considering there's about to only be 1 other public golf course within BR city limits (Webb). It would still be a short 9-hole course that's friendly to kids and senior golfers, and still affordable even if they double (or triple if they did a complete reno with quality staff, techniques, and materials) the price.
It's too nice of a piece of land for a golf course to just let it remain as it is today, despite getting plenty of play. I just like to see the course for what it could be for the golfers and everyone else in the area.

cypress stumps
I know they've battled with the stumps in the past, but there's no way that the stumps are what's causing the current green to look like it does now? Feels like a poor install or mismanagement or something.
