I completely agree, Roger. It is more of a thought experiment than anything else. Kind of inspired by Balaji Srinivasan, although I find his version of the return-to-city-state idea to be sophomoric or even puerile. (E.g., he completely ignores the possibility of military intervention by nation-states, and he overestimates the stability of a world that runs on bitcoin).
Still, as thought experiments go, it is an interesting one. The techlords are already kind of toying with the idea and bought land outside of San Francisco to build a new city. Hubris at its finest!

Ive thought about this too, issues are far less important than some sense of identity with the candidate. For some, thats just name recognition.
MAGA seems like 1960s Democrat populism.
The city state ideal is only something feasible after some collapse, and that would be a short lived period. Its impossible to isolate, but you do what you can.
